HUNTING INFO

 

HUNTING SEASON
The hunting season begins on the 1st February until the of 30th November.
December and January the hunting season is closed for hunting.
 

HUNTING GUIDES
Hunting may only be practiced in the company of a registered hunting guide, master hunting guide or professional hunter.


HUNTING PERMITS

Hunting may only begin once the Hunting Guide, Master Hunting Guide or Professional Hunter has obtained a valid hunting permit (trophy hunting permit) from Nature Conservation.
Cheetah and Leopard require an additional hunting permit which has to be obtained before hunting may commence.

 

TROPHY EXPORT
All trophies to be exported to the EU must be cleaned according to EU regulations. Hides need 14 days to dry .
 

FIREARMS
Smallest calibre permitted 7mm.
Min energy (Eo - muzzle velocity): 1350 Joule for Springbuck, Duiker etc.
2700 Joule for Hartebeest, Wildebeest, Kudu, Oryx, Eland, etc.
5400 Joule for Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino etc.

Solid point cartridges are not allowed for use on antelope or any other species.
Fully automatic weapons are PROHIBITED.
Other self-loading/semi-automatic weapons are NOT PROHIBITED, but will be questioned at the Airport on importation.
!! Handguns and automatic weapons are prohibited. !!
